What your supporters get

The email, medal page, trophy cabinet, sharing, privacy choices and verify page your volunteers and fundraisers see.

It helps to know exactly what lands in your supporter's inbox, so you can tell them to look out for it. Here's what Sam Okafor sees when Riverside Hospice sends a thank-you medal, from the email to the trophy cabinet.

The email

  • From: your sender name followed by "via Breaktape". Set the sender name in Settings, then Delivery.
  • Subject: "A thank-you medal from Riverside Hospice".
  • It opens: "Thank you, Sam", then "Riverside Hospice has given you a medal to say thank you: Raised £400. Here it is." (with their line, if you gave one).
  • Your message: if you've written one in Settings, then Delivery, it appears next.
  • The medal, as a picture.
  • Two buttons: Keep your medal and Share your medal.

The email is about the medal only: no adverts and no newsletter sign-ups.

Keeping the medal

Keep your medal opens the medal with "Thank you." at the top, their name, the medal, their line, and the award, your charity's name and the date.

To keep it, they choose Keep this medal. Breaktape sends a 6-digit code to the address the medal went to. There's no password, and they can look without keeping it. Once kept, the medal is in their trophy cabinet for life, alongside any other Breaktape medals they've earned.

Sharing

They can share straight from the email link, without signing in. Share your medal takes them to the sharing options: their phone's own share menu, WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn and X, or Copy link. Shares come with words like "Riverside Hospice gave me a medal to say thank you: Raised £400."

They can also save the pictures: a story image, a square post and a landscape image. Each one leads with their line in big letters, or "Thank you" if there isn't one.

You can see how often medals are kept and shared in Analytics.

The medal page

Every medal (except for under-13s) has its own page, which is what people see when it's shared. It shows the medal, their name, "was given a thank-you medal by Riverside Hospice", their line in large type, the award and the date. Below that there's a Verified medal link and, if you've added sponsors, a "supported by" panel with their logos.

Privacy

In their trophy cabinet, they can choose Privacy for this medal:

  • Public (anyone with the link can see it) or Private
  • Hide my surname on the public page
  • Delete this medal, which erases it and their details. This can't be undone.

Medals for under-13s are always private. See Medals for under-13s.

The verify page

Anyone can check a medal is real on its verify page. For a thank-you medal it says Verified, and lists who it was Awarded to, the Award, what's On the medal, who it was Given by and when it was Given on. If the holder has made the medal private, only the award and who gave it are shown.

Good to know

  • If an email bounces, it shows as Email didn't arrive under Given recently. Follow it up on the Issuance page.
  • If a supporter can't find their email, ask them to check their spam folder. Our guide for them is I didn't get my medal.
  • For a guide written for your supporters, share Thank-you medals.
