My result or name is wrong

What to do if your time, name or race is wrong on your medal, and what happens when it's corrected.

Your medal is made from your organiser's official results, so the organiser is the one who can correct it. When they do, you get an updated medal automatically.

Ask your organiser to correct it

  1. Contact your event organiser. If they've set it up, replying to your medal email goes straight to them.
  2. Tell them your name, your race and your bib number, and what's wrong.
  3. The organiser checks it with the timing company and corrects the result.

Breaktape can't change a result or a name on a medal. It has to come from the organiser, so the medal always matches the official record.

What happens when it's corrected

  • You get a new email with the subject Your and the event name, followed by medal has been updated. It says your result was corrected and your medal has been updated to match.
  • If you'd already kept your medal, the updated one replaces it in your trophy cabinet. You don't need to do anything.
  • If you hadn't kept it yet, tap Keep your medal in the new email.
  • Your old medal page shows This medal was updated, with a See the current medal button. Anyone who follows a link you shared earlier gets there.
  • The old verification page shows Updated, with Check the current medal.

The old medal is never deleted. It stays on record as replaced, so anything you've already shared still leads to the right result.

If only your name looks odd

Your name comes from the details you gave when you entered. If it's spelt wrong, ask your organiser to fix it in their results.

If you'd simply rather not show your full name, you don't need a correction. Use Hide my surname to show your first name and initial. See Privacy choices.

Good to know

  • If your chip time says (worked out), the chip mat didn't record you, so your time was calculated from the gun time and your wave start. If it looks wrong, ask your organiser.
  • Pictures you've already posted elsewhere don't update. Save new ones from your updated medal.
  • After a correction, check Privacy for this medal on the updated medal, to make sure it's set how you want.
  • If your organiser can't help, email support@breaktape.com with the event name and race.
