Medals for children

How medals for under-13s work, who keeps them and why they're always private.

Children under 13 get a medal for their finish, just like everyone else. A parent or guardian keeps it for them, and it's always private.

How it works

The medal email goes to the address the organiser has for the child's entry, which is usually the parent or guardian who entered them. The child never gets an account or a public page.

  1. Open the medal email and tap Keep your medal.
  2. Tap Keep this medal. We send a 6-digit code to the same address.
  3. Type the code into the 6-digit code box and tap Keep my medal.

The medal goes into your own trophy cabinet, in a card of its own called Medals you hold for and the child's first name. If you don't have a cabinet yet, keeping the medal starts one for you.

Seeing their medals

  1. Open your trophy cabinet.
  2. Tap the card Medals you hold for and the child's name. It says how many medals you hold and that they're always private.
  3. Tap a medal to open it.

You'll see their name, their time, their race and the medal itself, just as you would for your own.

What "always private" means

  • There's no public medal page. Anyone who opens a link to it sees This medal is private.
  • There are no share buttons or pictures to save. Share it explains that medals for children under 13 are always private.
  • It can't be made public. Privacy for this medal shows Always private instead of the usual choices.
  • It still checks out as genuine. The verification page shows the event and the organiser, but not the child's name or result.

Good to know

  • The medal is in the child's name, not yours. You keep it for them in your cabinet.
  • Medals for 13 to 17 year olds aren't held by a guardian, but they start private. Whoever keeps the medal can choose to make it public. See Privacy choices.
  • You can delete a child's medal from Privacy for this medal, using Delete this medal. See Deleting your account and data.
  • If you delete your own account, the medals you hold for children are deleted with it.
  • If the child's name or result is wrong, contact the event organiser. See My result or name is wrong.
