Putting sponsors on your medals
Where sponsors can appear on a medal and its share images, how the Supported by panel on medal pages works, and what the email leaves out.
Once you've added your sponsors, you choose where each one appears. A sponsor can be on the medal itself, on the images finishers share, and on every medal page under "Supported by", with a link that counts each tap. It's a good way to give sponsors something they can measure.
Choose where sponsors go on the medal
Sponsors are set in the medal design, one sponsor per place.
- Go to Medal designs and open the design.
- Find the Sponsors card. If you haven't added any sponsors yet, it links you to Settings to add them first.
- For each place, choose a sponsor or No sponsor:
- On the ribbon: the sponsor's name, in capitals.
- Foot of the medal face: the sponsor's logo, or "Supported by" and their name if there's no logo.
- Share images: "With" and the sponsor's name on the story and square images finishers post.
- Check the preview on the right with a few sample finishers.
- Press Save version (the button shows the version number). The new version is used for the next medals you issue.
Because there's one sponsor per place, two different sponsors can sit on the medal itself: one on the ribbon and one at the foot of the face. A third can go on the share images.
The Supported by panel
Every public medal page has a panel headed with your event's name, for example "Harbourside 10K is supported by". It shows:
- every sponsor you've added for that event, plus any set to All events
- as long as they have a logo or a website, and aren't archived
- headline sponsors first and larger, then partners
You don't need to place a sponsor on the medal for them to appear here.
Tapping a sponsor opens their website in a new tab. Each tap goes through a tracked link first, so it's counted in your Analytics and in the sponsor's report. Sponsors without a website show in the panel without a link.
What doesn't carry sponsors
- Medal emails never carry sponsor links. The email is about the finisher and their medal. Sponsors are on the medal image in the email if you've placed them there, but there's nothing to click.
- Private medals show no panel. An under-13's medal, or one the finisher has made private, has no public page, so there's no Supported by panel either.
Good to know
- Medals already issued keep their design. Adding or changing sponsors in a design affects the next medals you issue, not ones already out.
- Sponsor details update everywhere. A new logo or website shows on medal pages straight away, because the panel always uses the sponsor's current details.
- Archived sponsors leave medal pages but stay on medals already made with them.
- Check the ribbon in the preview. A long sponsor name in capitals takes up a lot of room, so make sure it still reads well at phone size.
