Signing in and your account

Breaktape has no passwords. You sign in with a 6-digit code or a one-tap link sent to your email, so there's nothing to remember and nothing to leak.

Signing in

You need an invitation first. An admin on your team invites your email address, and that address is your sign-in.

1. Go to the sign-in page and enter the email address your team invited.
2. Select Send me a code.
3. Open the email from Breaktape. It has a 6-digit code and a Sign in to Breaktape button.
4. Either type the code into the 6-digit code box and select Sign in, or tap the button in the email. Both work, and the link works on any device.

The code works once and lasts 15 minutes. You land on your Overview page.

If the code doesn't arrive

• Check your spam folder first.
• Select Send a new code. You can ask for a new one once a minute. A new code stops the old one working, so always use the latest email.
• If you typed the wrong address, select Use a different email address.

If you see "You're signed in, but not to an organiser team", your address has a sign-in but no team has invited it. Ask an admin on your team to invite that exact address.

Your account page

Select Your account at the bottom of the menu. These settings are just for you. Your organisation's settings are under Settings.

• Your name: how your team sees you, and how you appear in the record of who did what.
• Email address: shown for reference. To change it, ask an admin to invite your new address, then remove the old one.
• Open with: if you belong to more than one organisation, choose which one you see first when you sign in, or Whichever I used last.
• Appearance: Match my device, Light or Dark. Your choice follows you to every device you sign in on.
• Email me when: choose whether you'd like an email when a results file has finished importing, when medals have gone out, and when emails aren't getting through. You can set these now, but Breaktape isn't sending these emails yet.

Select Save when you're done.

Signing out

Select Sign out at the bottom of the menu to sign out of this browser. If you've used a shared or lost device, go to Your account and select Sign out on every device. You'll need a new code to sign in again anywhere.

Belonging to more than one organisation

If you work for more than one organiser, such as an events company and a charity, one email address can belong to several teams. A drop-down at the top of the menu shows the organisation you're in. Choose another to switch, and you go straight to its Overview page. Your role can be different in each one.

Good to know

• Nobody can sign in without the code or link from your inbox. If you get a sign-in email you didn't ask for, you can ignore it.
• If a link says it has expired or was already used, ask for a new one on the sign-in page.
• Your role (Admin, Editor, Viewer or Finance) is shown under your name in the menu.
