Showing amounts raised on race medals
How to import each person's fundraising total with your finishers and show it on their event medal.
For a sponsored walk or challenge, the amount someone raised is often what they're proudest of. If you include it when you import your finishers, Breaktape can put it on their medal, like "£400.00 raised", and on the share images they post.
Include it in your file
Add a column to your finishers' spreadsheet with each person's total. Breaktape recognises headings like:
- Amount raised
- Raised, Total raised, Money raised or Funds raised
- Fundraising or Fundraising total
- Sponsorship
Amounts are read as pounds and pence, so 400, £400 and 400.00 all work. Leave the cell empty for anyone who didn't raise money, and their medal simply won't show an amount.
You can also add a Charity column (headed Charity, Charity name or Running for) if people raised money for different causes.
Match the column
- Import your file as usual. See Charity walks and challenge events.
- On the column matching screen, check your amount column is matched to the Amount raised field. It usually matches itself. If not, choose Amount raised from the list beside it.
- Choose Check the rows, then review and approve the import.
Show it on the medal
In race designs, the amount raised is a field that starts switched off. To show it:
- Go to Medal designs and open the race's design.
- Under Fields on the medal, tick Line on the medal (or amount raised).
- Choose where it goes. It starts at the Foot of the face, in Small. You might prefer Below the centre, in Medium, so it stands out.
- In the preview, choose a sample from Preview with. Once you have results, Charity total shows the person who raised the most.
- Choose Save version N.
Do this before you release the medals. Medals already released keep the design they were made with.
Where the amount appears
- On the medal, worded like "£400.00 raised", wherever you placed the field.
- On their share images. For an untimed race the amount is the big headline. For a timed race, the finish time leads instead.
- In their trophy cabinet, for an untimed race, the amount is shown in large type under the medal when your file also had a Charity column.
The amount is part of the signed medal, so it's exactly what was in your approved file.
Good to know
- Thank-you awards word it the other way round, "Raised £400", and drop the pence for whole pounds. See The line on the medal.
- If an amount can't be read, the row is flagged during the import so you can fix it before anything is made.
- Amounts are in pounds sterling.
- Check the totals in your file before you approve the import. If a medal goes out with the wrong amount, email support@breaktape.com and we'll help you put it right.
- Want to thank your top fundraisers separately? Give them a thank-you award as well. See Setting up awards.
